Convergent and SignStorey to Install New Digital Media Networks
ATLANTA March 21, 2005
--
SignStorey, Inc. has selected Convergent to be a primary installer of its new digital signage satellite network being rolled out to over 2,000 grocery stores across the country, beginning this month. Price Chopper, a regional chain based in upstate New York, will be the first Convergent installation.
"Customers visit supermarkets twice a week on average," said Virginia Cargill, CEO of SignStorey. "Digital signage gives grocers the opportunity to build their own advertising networks and reach these frequent shoppers with customized messages, entertainment and advertising throughout the day. Digital signage has proven to enhance the customer's experience while in the store and move product."
"Digital signage is one alternative to the challenge plaguing brand marketers these days, 'how do I capture the rapidly decreasing audience of home TV viewers who are skipping the commercials," said Bryan Allen, CEO of Convergent. "More importantly, companies like SignStorey and Convergent are providing these in-store digital media networks where brand advertisers can run their re-purposed 'TV spots' and connect with customers as they're ready to buy."
SignStorey, which is currently targeting the grocery industry for digital media signage, is managing the digital signage network, developing the content and selling the ads. The company has tested its program in stores with over 50 different brands from 30 different manufacturers. So far consumer response to the network has been very strong. The average increase in product movement was 20%.
SignStorey has brought in Convergent to install 42-inch plasma screens within the perimeter of each grocery store at designated key shopping locations. A combination of compelling visuals and sound will feature special product promotions available in or near departments where the screens will be hung.
